Set up your business: currency, tax and receipts

Business settings apply to every store you add. Get them right once and every register follows.

Currency and time zone

Your country sets the currency (USD, AED or PKR) and a default time zone. Check the time zone matches your store: it decides which day a 2 a.m. shift close belongs to.

Tax rates and tax groups

1. Open Settings → Tax rates and add each rate you charge, for example your state sales tax, a city rate, or UAE VAT at 5%.
2. Combine rates into tax groups when an item carries more than one, for example state plus local.
3. Choose whether prices you type include tax (common in the UAE) or exclude it (common in the US).

Grocery staples, prepared food and tobacco are often taxed differently. Create a group for each and assign it by category when you add products.

Receipt header and layout

1. Open Settings → Invoice layouts.
2. Add your store name, address, phone and, where you need it, your tax registration number (TRN in the UAE).
3. Choose the paper size (80 mm for most thermal printers) and the receipt language. You can show two languages on one receipt.

Default language

Set the business language. Each user can still choose their own language later in their profile.
