Add opening stock

Enter what is on your shelves today so stock levels, alerts and reorder lists are right from the first sale.

Updated 2026-10-17

Stock tracking starts from a number. Opening stock is that number.

Three ways to do it

  1. In the import file. Add an opening stock column per store when you import products.
  2. By category. Open Products → Opening stock, filter a category (say, energy drinks), and type the counts.
  3. By scanning. Walk an aisle with a scanner and enter quantities as you go.

Cases and units

If you buy in cases and sell in units, enter opening stock in selling units. Receiving later adds the right number of units per case.

Lot and expiry

For dairy, sandwiches, bread or medicines, add the lot and expiry date with the stock so you get alerts before they expire.

Do not count the whole store in one night

Enter opening stock for fast movers first. Count the rest one category a week. Stock adjustments are recorded with a reason, so the history stays clean.
